Lucky the unlucky soul?

The things I find on my old computer- Part 3:

Lucky the unlucky soul?

He was the first dog I really remember well. He was the dog I spent my young childhood with. And he was in trouble.

My parents finally decided to buy their second dog. It took a while since their first one they had together, died young from illness.

They decided to get a Labrador Flat-coated Retriever from a breeder. And they fell in love with this little, quiet and week thing. We all did. So we took him home and gave him the name "Lucky".

Unfortunately the breeder was not honest and lied about Lucky being healthy. We could have returned him but we couldn't leave him behind, knowing that he probably would have been put down.

He had hip dysplasia and couldn't walk properly. The bills from the vet were constant, he had regular pain if left untreated. But we refused to give up on him. Because he was the most tender, kindhearted and faithful soul we have ever met. And he had so much love to give, being patient and understanding with us young kids.

Sadly, he did die young. Not from his illness but from cancer. We all were heart broken and didn't have a dog for the next view years.

But still, after a while we felt better. Because we could take care of this peaceful soul for as long as destiny would let us. Who knew how he would have ended up if he fell into the hands of other owners...

Lucky the lucky soul?
