This was my second time in Miami. The first time, exactly two years ago, my husband proposed to me in this sunny city. Of course, we had to come back here for our honeymoon.
Firstly, Miami is a whole other world. I’ve been to other parts of the USA and they were not nearly the same. Miami is different. It’s more central American already. You hear more Spanish on the streets than English. You find more food from latin America than American style foods. And you get the vibes of Latin America everywhere you go.
Miami is a spot where cultures from all over the world meet and that makes it so special and interesting. Miami won’t disappoint you culture wise.
Another thing I love about Miami is its nature. Yes, nature in a city. You see chicken running around on the streets, squirrels chasing each other, a lot of tropical birds flying around and iguanas climbing on trees.
Just outside of Miami there are several State Parks and islands with spectacular views over to the city skyline in the middle of nature, surrounded by swamps, alligators and beautiful birds.
Furthermore, the well known Everglades National Park is just short drive from the city.
Whereas Miami has it’s famous port, Wynwood as an important art hotspot and Calle Ocho with little Havana, Miami has the beaches and nightlife.
Miami Beach offers beaches as beautiful as on postcards, the famous Ocean Drive with its dazzling nightlife and art deco style houses and countless boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Miami has sunny and warm weather all year round. But just like all the other hurricane zones, I suggest you to travel there during winter since hurricane season is between May and November.
Plus it’s less hot and humid.
The sea is always warm anyways, and temperatures are still very comfortable at around 24 to 30 degree Celsius.
