The Saint Gotthard (Sankt Gotthard)
has always fascinated me. A frontier between north an south, languages and cultures. A massive that was hard to climb but desirable by all the big ancients leaders. A strategic point for power, commerce and traffic but mostly a legend, myth and a hardly reachable mountain for people over centuries. Pacts with the devil have been made to conquer the mountain , romans have struggled to cross it and it played a big role in the two World-wars. But now, climbing it comfortably by car, it only does one thing: It presents it's beautiful but rough nature, stunning views and fresh mountain air.
